EPO Connects With the Leading IP Professionals Organisation FEMIPI

On 27 May, European Patent Office (EPO) Vice-President for the Patent Granting Process, Steve Rowan, and his team hosted a delegation from the European Federation of Intellectual Property Agents in Industry (FEMIPI) at the EPO headquarters in Munich. The meeting served as a platform to share updates on the latest EPO developments, better understand the evolving needs of IP professionals working in industry and identify opportunities for future collaboration. This engagement is part of the EPO’s broader commitment to maintaining an active dialogue with national and international user associations, ensuring continuous feedback and user-driven improvements.

The meeting also focused on the important topic of digital transformation, alongside updates on the latest developments concerning the Unitary Patent and the Unified Patent Court. The discussion highlighted the crucial role of the Unitary Patent in enhancing European competitiveness and reinforced the recommendation, outlined in the recent Draghi report, that all EU member states should join the Unitary Patent system.
